Sockeye
Sockeye salmon (often called red salmon) is known for its rich flavor, firm texture, and unmistakable vibrant red color. Wild sockeye salmon spend their early lives in freshwater streams and lakes. After a few years, they migrate to the ocean where they mature and grow. After several years at sea, they return to their natal streams to spawn. Sockeye is truly a superfood, as a source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids which are beneficial for heart health, brain health, and inflammation.
Coho
Coho salmon (also known as silver salmon) has a mild, slightly sweet flavor with a delicate texture and firm, flaky flesh. Its mild flavor makes it a good gateway fish for salmon newbies or those who prefer a less bold profile. While not as brightly colored as sockeye, coho still has a vibrant orange hue to its flesh. Like sockeye, coho is a superfood, as a source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids which are beneficial for heart health, brain health, and inflammation.
